Professional Retul Bike Fit
A full Retul motion-capture bike fit at Spirited Cyclist in Davidson costs $300 and takes about three hours. Plan for the full three — a fit that is rushed is a fit you end up repeating. Tri bikes can take longer.
What a Retul fit actually is
Retul measures you riding, not standing still. Small LED markers on your hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow and wrist are tracked by an infrared camera while you pedal under load, and the system records the actual angles your joints move through — in three dimensions, at full pedaling speed, rather than someone eyeballing you from across the room.
The numbers are the starting point, not the answer. What matters is what our certified Retul fitter changes because of them: saddle height and setback, cleat position, bar reach and drop, stem length, crank length. We make the adjustments in the session, then measure again to confirm the change did what it was supposed to.
Who it is for
- Anything hurts. Numb hands, sore knees, a neck that gives up before your legs do — these are usually fit problems, not fitness problems.
- You just bought a bike, or are about to. The right frame size gets you close. A fit gets you right, and it is far cheaper than changing your mind about a frame.
- You are chasing a time. On a triathlon or time-trial bike the aero position is only fast if you can hold it for the whole distance.
- You are coming back to riding. Bodies change. A position that worked ten years ago often does not.
What to bring
Your bike, the shoes and pedals you ride in, and your usual riding kit, a towel. — We need to see you as you actually ride, not in jeans. If you are buying a bike from us, we can fit it before you take it home.
